NPFL: Tornadoes Beat Enyimba 2-1 As New Season Commences

Niger Tornadoes football club of Minna began their 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a convincing 2-1 victory over Enyimba Football club of Aba at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.

The Minna-based side took the lead just 40 minutes into the match after Mohammed Goyi converted the spot kick.

The visitor levelled the score via a header in a set piece after a free kick in the 70th minute by William Wonah.

The host side managed their advantage effectively with consistent pressure when Olalusi Michael with a perfect low shot scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute of play.

The Tornadoes side held on and the game ended in a 2:1 victory with three points marking a winning start for them to the new NPFL season.

During the post match briefing, Coach of the Enyimba side, Emmanuel Deutsch said the game was very entertaining, adding that the home side deserved the victory.

Also, the Home team coach, Kabiru Dogo while expressing joy commended the fans for their support adding that, “we are on course to go far in the league and I appeal to everyone to be patient with the team.”
