2027: PDP Deputy N’Chairman Leads APM Campaign In Bauchi

Date:

Deputy National Chairman (North) of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyan has been pointed as the Director-General of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) campaign in Bauchi State.

The APM and Kabiru-led PDP had on May 14, 2026 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a mega rally in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The alliance gained momentum following the internal crisis in the PDP, leading to some leaders of the party, including Oyo and Bauchi State governors, Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed defecting from PDP to APM.

Makinde is the APM presidential candidate for 2027 election while Mohammed is a senatorial candidate on the party’s platform.

It was gathered that Akuyan’s position and role in the APM was approved by the Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of the PDP as part of the strategy to ensure seamless fusion of the structures of the two allying parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akuyan who was in May 2026 appointed into the PDP INWC by the faction’s 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting following the invalidating of the November 2025 National Convention of the Party by the Supreme Court, is retaining his position in the PDP while leading the APM campaign.

“The two parties are converging efforts on best candidates at various levels under mutually accepted arrangements. It is a mutually benefitting arrangement to secure victory for opposition candidates at all levels of the election.”

He admitted that there is a working agreement between the two parties, noting that this will not be the first time political parties would be coming under an alliance in election.
