2026 World Cup: This is not the strongest France team – Mbappe

Date:

France captain, Kylian Mbappe, has claimed this current squad is not the strongest he has played with.

Mbappe was speaking to reporters after scoring in their 2-0 win over Morocco, in the 2026 World Cup quarter-final.

The 27-year-old already won the competition with Les Bleus in 2018 and lost the 2022 final to Argentina.

Although France are widely regarded as the favourites to win this year’s World Cup, Mbappe has said they need to win the trophy to be considered the best.

He said: “This is not the strongest France team, but it’s the one with the most potential.

“I’ve always said that the best teams are the ones that win.”

France are set to face either Belgium or Spain in the semi-finals.
